On February 8, Education Minister launched the Reading – Writing campaign. Under this campaign, women, adults above 15 years of age belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and other disadvantaged sections will be made literate. 4.20 lakh illiterates (1.05 lakh men, 3.15 lakh women) will be provided 120 hours of teaching training at their convenience at the time and place. Volunteer based literacy centers will be set up at each gram panchayat level.
